The Deeper You Go, The More You Want To Know
Ever since I began to study the Bible and Theology I have been intrigued by the character, workings and doings of God. What is God really like? What is He really up to? What does He truly care about? What is His favorite part of Creation? These are just a few of the questions that have compelled me toward a deeper study of Scripture. After all, God chose to reveal Himself not only through Creation (General Revelation) but also through Word Revelation (God’s Word to us as discovered in the Bible). Upon my graduation from Seminary I truly believed I possessed a rather exhaustive understanding of the nature and workings of God. Unfortunately, as I got older I began to realize that God did not always conform to my preconceived ideas nor to my fundamental interpretations. As I began to experience middle age, I found the God of the Bible to be bigger than I had ever imagined. Yes, some things are rather clear and direct when it comes to the nature of God. He is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent and ultimately, He is love. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all that is and is not subject to anything or anyone. If He were any less, He would not be God. For God to be God he must be Self-existing, not dependent on anything outside of Himself for His existence.
